Miri Celebrates the Opening of Miri Sentral Bus Terminal: Enhancing Connectivity
The brand-new Miri Sentral Bus Terminal officially commenced operations on 18 January 2025, replacing the old bus terminal in Pujut, Miri.
This new terminal is poised to become an iconic landmark that symbolizes the advancement of public transportation infrastructure in Miri.
Enhanced Connectivity and Economic Activity
Datuk Bandar Miri, Adam Yii Siew Sang, had the honor of pre-launching the new terminal.
TVS reported that at the inauguration ceremony, Adam Yii had emphasized that the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal should be seen as more than just a transportation facility.
Adam Yii was also quoted as saying that he envisions it as a hub for connectivity and economic activity, improving mobility for all residents and welcoming visitors to experience the beauty and hospitality of Miri.
The upgraded terminal is equipped with modern amenities, including 12 ticket counters, 12 retail shops, 14 bus platforms, two cafes, accessible restrooms, and spacious waiting areas.
These facilities are designed to provide comfort and convenience for both travelers and the local community.
The modern infrastructure is set to enhance the overall travel experience and contribute significantly to the city’s economic growth.
Operational Hours and Accessibility
The Miri Sentral Bus Terminal operates daily from 5 AM to 11 PM, catering to both long-distance and local bus services.
Additionally, it serves as a hub for taxi and e-hailing services, making it easily accessible for all users.
This improved accessibility is expected to enhance the overall travel experience and contribute to the city’s economic growth.
Closure of Pujut Bus Terminal
With the opening of the new Miri Sentral, the Pujut Bus Terminal ceased operations on 17 January 2025.
The Pujut Bus Terminal has been a vital part of Miri’s transportation network for years, but a new terminal with facilities that meet the increasing needs of the community was needed, hence the construction of Miri Sentral.
According to Miri City Sharing, Adam Yii mentioned that the Pujut Bus Terminal will be transformed into a wholesale and seasonal food market to promote local economic development.
This transformation is expected to provide a boost to the local economy by creating new opportunities for traders and attracting more visitors.
Conclusion
The opening of the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal marks a new chapter for Miri, providing a modern and efficient transportation hub that meets the evolving needs of the city’s residents and visitors.
With its enhanced amenities and strategic location, the terminal is set to become a central point for connectivity and economic activities in Miri.
The modern infrastructure and improved facilities will ensure a comfortable and convenient travel experience for all users, making Miri Sentral a valuable addition to the city’s public transportation network.
