The refurbishments and repairs works of Medan Niaga Permaidani BGS (also known as Medan Niaga Permaidani Kampung Boyan, Gersik dan Sourabaya) have now been completed with the hawker centre officially declared open to the public.

It was officially declared open by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication II (Utility), Datuk Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Junaidi on January 24, 2024.

The hawker centre which houses 40 pork and alcohol free stalls is expected to be another tourist attraction across the Kuching Waterfront.

Located facing the the Kuching Waterfront, the refurbishment works cost the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) about RM2,094,000 to complete.

Besides having a good view of the Kuching Waterfron from across the Sarawak river, the Medan Niaga would also stand to benefit from nearby attractions like the Dataran Ibu Pertiwi, English Tea House, and Boyan Walk.
