Kuching – Samarahan – Serian to be linked by LRT line?
A study will soon be done by the Sarawak government to see if a Light Rail Transit (LRT) system connecting Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions can be made possible.
Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the study to include such mode of public transport is being drafted by the state government to solve traffic congestion in these three divisions.
Johari further said that if studies show that it is feasible, a budget would be allocated as he hinted that the traffic congestion within the three divisions needs to be addressed for future needs and not the current one.
The idea of having an LRT network in Sarawak isn’t new as such idea has been brought up numerous time by several quarters.
Some netizens have also drawn up a so called ‘LRT map’, eager to show how they think such network should be connected.
