Kuching North wins ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award

The Commission of the City of Kuching North (DBKU) has achieved another prestigious milestone, winning the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award for the 2026–2028 category.

This regional recognition was awarded after DBKU successfully met all ASEAN Tourism Standards and received official certification from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia.

The award ceremony took place on January 30, 2026, in Cebu, Philippines, during the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2026.

Representing DBKU at the awards were Mr. Rudzaimeir bin Malek (Deputy Director of Community Services) and Mrs. Norhayati binti Bidin (Head of Public Relations).

The accolade marks DBKU’s first recognition at the ASEAN regional level, proving their commitment to keeping Kuching North clean, safe, and sustainable.

This follows DBKU’s consistent success at the national level, having previously won the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard 2022–2024, on 7 Mac 2022 in Kuala Lumpur and the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard 2024–2026 in Cyberjaya.

The ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award therefore not only is a huge recognition for Kuching North, but Kuching as a whole, as it is now officially declared one of the cleanest tourist cities in the ASEAN region.
