Kuching Car-Free Morning
Kuching Car-Free Morning is an event organized by both the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS).
It is organized to reduce Kuching’s carbon-footprint and encourage social and healthy activities among residents of Kuching.
The DBKU Car-Free Morning was supposed to start in 2021, but had to be delayed to February 2022 due to the pandemic.
It was first held on the first Sunday of February 2022, taking the first Sunday of the month, but it’s popularity had since seen it being expanded to two Sundays in a month.
In May 2023, MBKS announced that their Car-Free Morning would be planned on 14 May 2023.
What to expect
During the event, expect roads surrounding the venue to be closed to motorized vehicles.
Participants usually bring their bicycles, and wear their exercise attire to take part in activities such as cycling, zumba, dancing, walking, jogging, cycling and more.

Energy drink companies like Milo also usually do set up tents to promote their drinks to those joining the event.
The MBKS Car-Free Morning event promises aerobics, payment booths, Malaysia breaking record displays, fun runs and more.

Where is Kuching Car-Free Morning
The Kuching North version of the Kuching Car-Free morning happens in areas surrounding Padang Merdeka. If you are not sure where is Padang Merdeka, the map below will be a good guide.
Do note that roads near to Padang Merdeka will likely close due to the event so you might want to drop by Plaza Merdeka if you are keen to join the event.
Meanwhile, the Kuching South Car-free Morning happens around the MBKS Building, covering the MBKS Garden Park area.
