IKEA Kuching will officially open on 27 November 2026 at Pines Mall, Batu Kawa, bringing the Swedish home furnishing retailer’s physical shopping experience to Sarawak for the first time.
The opening marks IKEA Malaysia’s first small-format store, offering customers a more compact shopping experience with access to approximately 5,000 home furnishing products.
According to a press release by IKEA, shoppers can explore furniture and home accessories, receive planning assistance, purchase selected items for immediate take-home and arrange orders for collection or home delivery.
Same IKEA Prices as Peninsular Malaysia
A key highlight for Sarawakians is IKEA’s confirmation that products and services at IKEA Kuching will be offered at the same prices as in Peninsular Malaysia, without an additional East Malaysia price premium.
The store will feature home furnishing solutions for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining areas, storage and children’s spaces. Customers can also find popular IKEA products, including the BILLY bookcase, KALLAX shelving unit, POÄNG armchair and SKOGSTA dining table.
According to IKEA Malaysia Country Retail Director Takeshi Murai, the opening brings the company closer to its goal of making affordable and functional home furnishing accessible to more Malaysians.
IKEA Food and IKEA Family Benefits
The new store will also introduce a grab-and-go IKEA Food concept, allowing customers to enjoy familiar favourites such as Swedish meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs and soft serve. Selected Swedish food products will also be available to take home.
Customers can join IKEA Family to access membership benefits, selected offers and experiences throughout the year.
IKEA Kuching’s opening celebrations will run from 27 to 29 November 2026, with activities and IKEA Family offers to be announced closer to the launch.
