Bung Bratak Day

The Bung Bratak Day is a day full of carnival-like festivities by the Bidayuh community which began in 2013.

The event is organized by the Bung Bratak Heritage Association (BBHA).

Festival highlights

During this day communities showcase their culture and traditions in the form of games, dances, food and other performances and displays.

Previous editions also had ‘Bratakthon’, which is a running up the hill competition, traditional dances and performances, as well as cultural and heritage displays related to the Bidayuh community.

Also a major highlight is the serving of local Bidayuh food as well as the craft and arts by the Bidayuh people.

Aside from that, the event also features performances from local Bidayuh artist as well.

Entry into the event is free.

The Bung Bratak Day venue

The festival takes place at the Bung Bratak Heritage Centre, located off the 6th mile Bau-Lundu Road, via Kampung Tembawang Sauh in Bau.

It is approximately an hour from the city centre, and the Heritage Centre located on the hill.
