Bintulu Hospital set to have more beds and parking lots
The 24 year old Bintulu Hospital is expected to get a new hospital wing which comes with some 500 new additional bed space as well as 3,000 parking bays.
This will increase the capacity of Sarawak’s fourth largest hospital to 839 beds.
The news of the extension was reported by Borneo Post which quoted Bintulu Member of parliament (MP) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, as saying that the extension project has been approved in the First Rolling Plan of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

According to the Bintulu Hospital Official Website, the hospital is 12KM from the town of Bintulu, and offers services such as general treatments to specialists.
Specialist treatment includes obstetrics & gynecology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, surgery and pediatric services, radiology, and emergency and trauma.
The hospital utilizes the Hospital Information System (HIS), being one of the three general hospitals nationwide to use such system.
Hoping to be a Satelite Heart Centre
Aside from covering treatments mentioned above, DayakDaily reported that the Sarawak government is also hoping to establish a Satelite Heart Centre in the hospital in the near future.
The proposal would see the Bintulu Hospital Satelite Heart Centre get equipment sponsored by the Sarawak government through the Sarawak Heart Foundation.
At the time of writing, no news on the approval of the centre had been detected online although the Borneo Post did report that the Sarawak Heart Foundation had already receiving RM1.6 million from Petros for the purchase of equipment to upgrade Bintulu Hospital’s radiology angiography system to cardiology angiography capabilities.
