Mark your calenders for the most 'cowboy-like' festival in Sarawak!
The Siniawan Country Music Festival (SCMF) is set to return in 2025, promising its biggest edition yet from September 26 to 28.
This year’s festival will be held at the newly completed Siniawan Waterfront, a larger and more scenic venue designed to accommodate an anticipated increased crowd.
The Siniawan Waterfront project is expected to be completed in July, just in time for the festival.
The SCMF 2025 holds special significance as it coincides with several major milestones: the 185th anniversary of Siniawan town, the 15th anniversary of the Siniawan Night Market, and the official opening of the Siniawan Waterfront.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is scheduled to officiate the waterfront’s opening ceremony on September 27.
Recognized as one of the biggest country music festivals in Asia, the Siniawan Country Music Festival has consistently drawn thousands of visitors from across Malaysia and beyond, including West Malaysia, Sabah, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The festival, which began in 2016, has grown significantly, with past editions attracting over 10,000 attendees.
In previous years, entry to the festival grounds has been free and this is continued during the Siniawan Country Music Festival 2025 despite its larger size.
Attendees can expect a “Wild Wild West” experience in Siniawan, a historic Chinese-majority town known for its well-preserved wooden shophouses and “cowboy town” ambiance.
The festival will feature performances from local bands and artists, as well as acts from Indonesia and Sabah. In addition, line-dancing (poco-poco), as well as a good collection of good food and drinks as well as a vibrant atmosphere is assured during this festival.
That said, festival-goers are highly encouraged to embrace the theme by donning their best cowboy and cowgirl attire when they come to the festival.
