AirAsia X considering direct flights from Kuching to South Korea

AirAsia X is looking into the possibility of flying from Kuching to South Korea, in the near future.

The airline is said to be particularly interested to make Kuching a hub for Busan.

According to a report by Borneo Post, AirAsia X chief executive officer Benyamin Ismail, is looking at expanding their routes to Kuching, with the city regarded as a nature hub.

Despite the excitement of such possibility, Benyamin also said that his company is currently looking into getting main routes to Kuala Lumpur first, adding that any spare capacity would be used to connect either Kuching or Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.

Benyamin also remarked that AirAsia X does intends to strengthen its foothold in South Korea with both destinations in Borneo Malaysia as he noted that demand for air travel is going strong despite economic troubles.

In case you are wondering, Kuching already has a street in South Korea named after the city.
