Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) Sibu campus to be operational this year

The Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) in Sibu is set to begin operations by mid-year this year. This is ahead of its original plan which was to start operations in 2026.

The good news was shared by Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak.

According to Annuar, the new school already has student and teachers who are currently based in Yayasan Sarawak International School (YSISS) in the Kuching campus in Petra Jaya.

Therefore, Annuar said that the opening of the new Yayasan Sarawak International School Sibu campus would see these teachers and students relocated to the Sibu campus once all necessary preparations are finalized.

The number of students and teachers involved in the relocation is not made known, but the new Sibu campus is located at Sungei Merah Town District, Sibu.

According to BDC, the company behind the Yayasan Sarawak International School (YSISS) Sibu campus , the school will have an administration office, 20 classrooms, laboratories, a multi-purpose hall, a 500 pax student hostel, a canteen, a headmaster’s quaters, 18 teacher’s quarters, and a surau.

Photos shared by Albert Cheng on Facebook show the Sibu campus is complete and that final works are now on-going to prepare the school for operation.

YSISS Sibu will be the third international school under the management of Yayasan Sarawak.

It joins the existing campuses located in Petra Jaya and Jalan Kuching-Serian (Mile 12). Other campuses which are now in planning stages would be located in Betong, Bintulu, and Miri.
