A crab soup dish during “Iftar Bliss” ramadan buffet

My personal take about Sheraton Kuching “Iftar Bliss” Ramadan Buffet 2025

Taste is always very subjective, and this to me is true for the Sheraton Kuching’s “Iftar Bliss” Ramadan Buffet 2025.

Before I elaborate further, it is important to note that the menu served during “Iftar Bliss” covers local favourites like Nasi kandar, food from carpenter street, Dayak food, as well as Malay and Sarawakian favourites.

With the huge variety, and being able to taste and try almost all the dishes served until I almost wanted to ‘burst of fullness’, I can say my favourite came in these five dishes.

The Fish head Curry: I felt this dish was simply perfect. The curry had had enough spiciness, and the curry also went very well with white rice. In addition, the meat on the fish head was easy to flake apart with a fork when gently pressed, indicating it was perfectly cooked and not overdone.

The Ulam: I think Sheraton Kuching Iftar Bliss Ramadan Buffet 2025 has one of the biggest numbers of sambals served for a ramadan buffet I’ve attended. There was 15 sambals alltogether. In my opinion, the sambal belacan (shrimp paste sambal) was the highlight among all the sambals despite being very spicy (but very good) as it was just perfect with the ulam-ulaman which featured the likes of petai, morning glory, egg plant, cabbage, and cucumber. I didn’t really take note of the names of the sambals (because there was so many), but I do remember there was sambals for geprek, sambal kacang, and if I’m not mistaken sambal terung asam, which was something very new for me. In addition, Sheraton Kuching also threw in popular authentic Melanau dishes like prawn umai, fish umai, and jellyfish umai within this section as well.

The Sichuan soup: The soup is just right, with the broth being not too thick nor watery and not too sour or too sweet. It has a very good balance and the condiments put into the soup mixture were also not overcooked to ensure it still feel springy and tasteful when eaten. To be honest, I could just eat this as my main dish while watching TV because it was just perfect.

The Tempoyak Ikan Patin: Tempoyak seems to be quite popular in the Iftar Bliss ramadan buffet as it is also served at the ABC station. However, in my opinion, it fits perfectly when cooked with Ikan Patin (Patin fish) as the essence and smell of the durian doesn’t come out too strong, and the flavour of the dish itself greatly enhanced by the tempoyak. In addition to that, the fish meat was also very tender upon every bite, making it one of the dishes you must try here.

Baskin Robbin ice cream fro dessert!

The Baskin Robin ice cream: You can’t go wrong with Baskin Robin ice cream as a dessert and while there was only four flavours offered at the “Iftar Bliss” Ramadan Buffet 2025, there were plenty of toppings to choose from. Considering the price of one single Baskin Robin ice cream, it’s a no brainer to have this as a must try desert if you go to this ramadan buffet.

Iftar Bliss ramadan buffet 2025 final verdict

That said, Sheraton Kuching Hotel has curated a very uniqued Ramadan experience this year, offering not one, but two distinct and captivating buffet journeys.

The diverse flavors of “Iftar Bliss,” showcased the best of Malaysian cuisine, and the upcoming authentic Korean delights of “Daebak-nya Ramadan,” will likely be a pleasing ‘sunkey’ for those preferring authentic Korean cuisine.

Therefore, if you are seeking something more traditional and closer to home, do not miss the “Iftar Bliss” Ramadan Buffet before March 10th, but if you want something different, I would recommend trying out the “Daebak-nya Ramadan” buffet from March 10th.
