Sarawak Tourism Board expands partnership deal with Malaysia Airlines

LONDON – Embarking on the journey to boost Sarawak tourism, to not only in United Kingdom but also Europe, Sarawak Tourism Board has renewed and expanded its partnership deal with Malaysia Airlines during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the World Travel Market in London on November 4, 2019.

Under the agreement, Sarawak Tourism Board together with Malaysia Airlines will jointly invest in promoting Sarawak as a naturally preferred destination for overseas market, funding arrangement for campaigns and promotional activities to boost both domestic and international arrivals.

The partnership involves marketing campaigns with leading travel agents such as Amogha Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd, One Wayang Tour Sdn Bhd, Greatown Travel Sdn Bhd, CPH Travel Agencies, Ecogreen Holidays, Grand Margherita Hotel, Riverside Majestic Hotel (Puteri Wing and Astana Wing) and Sara Hospitality Sdn Bhd.

This is to increase Sarawak visibility and generate sales, as well as organised visits for travel agents and the media to experience all that Sarawak has to offer.

The destinations will also be promoted on the Malaysia Airlines website and feature a number of digital campaigns led by the national carrier.

The MOU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Malaysian Airline System Bhd, Captain Izham Ismail for Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Sarawak Tourism Board, Chief Executive Officer, Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor.

“Sarawak Tourism sees this as a strategic partnership with Malaysia Airlines to promote Sarawak and leveraging the Visit Sarawak Campaign,” Sharzede said.

She is confident that this partnership will give tourists and visitors from the United Kingdom a chance to experience new and diverse products to enhance their Sarawak experiences.

The World Travel Market is a three-day trade fair held in London bringing together travel professionals, key industry buyers, journalists, digital influencer, students and tourism ministers to discuss business, innovation and trends in the travel industry.

Last year’s event sparked a million meetings, resulting in around £3 billion in contracts.
