Sarawak Open House for Chinese New Year this 29th at BCCK
The Sarawak government has announced that the state-level Chinese New Year (CNY) Open House 2025 will be held on January 29th, the first day of the Lunar New Year, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The Sarawak Tribune reported Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian as making the announcement during a recent event at Jalan Padungan, citing that an official press release would be released soon.
Dr Sim in during the promised press conference report carried by Borneo Post later said that some 5,000 are expected at the open house.
The open house will take place from 8.30AM to 2:00 PM and will be graced by the presence of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar. Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and members of the Sarawak Cabinet.
Dr Sim also said that visitors will also be entertained with musical performances by local artistes such as Valerie Thiam, Ng Chien Chien, Ivando, Roxy Izy, and Hafizah.
Aside from that, there’s also a showcase a variety of performances coordinated by the Sarawak Arts Council, including traditional lion dances and a special performance by the Oriental Chinese Orchestra.
The Sarawak Chinese New Year Open House is open to the public and will be live streamed by UKAS.
