Sarawak Matriculation College to be built in Sematan

Sematan, a serene coastal town in Sarawak, is set to become the proud home of Sarawak’s first dedicated, stand-alone matriculation college.

According to Sarawak Tribune, this ambitious federal project, valued at RM700 million, with the purpose-built campus spanning approximately 30 to 40 acres in Sematan.

Once in operation, the new Sarawak Matriculation College would be able to offer pre-university courses to some 1,500 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers.

Currently, Sarawak’s matriculation program operates from a shared facility within a vocational college in Kuching.

This new dedicated space will therefore allow for enhanced facilities and a more conducive learning environment for thousands of students.

The establishment of this college is also poised to bring significant economic benefits to Sematan, attracting over 2,000 students and staff to the area.
