Sarawak longest bridge to be open in October
The long awaited Batang Sadong bridge in Samarahan would be completed, and ready for public use in October 2016.
The bridge which connects Sri Aman and Samarahan would shorten the time travel from Kuching to Sibu as it by-passes the long winding roads in Sri Aman, which is a typical way to travel from Kuching to Miri. Users of the bridge can expect to cut travel time by almost three hours by using the bridge.
Works on the bridge are currently 99 percent completed, with the 1.5km bridge becoming the longest bridge in Sarawak once it is completed.
Currently, electrical and resurfacing works are being completed on the bridge, with the RM211 million bridge slated to be officiated by Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Once completed, nearby potential tourist destinations such as Betong, Debak, Kabong, Sarikei and even Sibu can expect to gain more tourist.
