The up-coming Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) which links Samarahan to Kuching has caused two traffic light junctions in Samarahan to stop work for the time being.
According to a news report by Borneo Post, the project is delayed because the Sarawak government wants Sarawak Metro to speed up the ART project in Samarahan.
The report cited that the contractor in charge of the traffic lights have been asked to assist Sarawak Metro in completing the ART project.
The report didn’t name how the contractors were assisting each other, but Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman, Datuk Peter Minos, was quoted by the daily as saying that there would be ‘slight delays in completion of the remaining two traffic light projects.
In recent months, both the Autonomous Rapid Transit project and the traffic light project which links Kuching and Samarahan have been progressing with hope to solve the masive traffic jam in both directions.
The ART project in particular is significat as it will bethe first of such system to be powered by hydrogen in the world.
