Niti Daun 2023 parade hapenning tomorrow

The biggest Niti Daun 2023 parade this year will be held tomorrow, with a dry run done late this evening in the Kuching City Centre.

Niti Daun is a Dayak Procession which will see thousands wearing Dayak traditional colours and ornaments of their people.

The event is scheduled from 10AM to 5PM tomorrow, with some 89 contigents, involving over 2,500 participants joining the parade.

According to press reports, the parade will start at Tun Jugah building and will lead to the Kuching Waterfront, covering 1.2KM.

Roads closed will be the Sri Aman roundabout, Jalan Padungan, Jalan Abel traffic lights, Jalan Petanak, Jalan Bukit Mata, Jalan Wawasan/Lebuh Wayang, Jalan Carpenter, Jalan Old Court House/Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, and Jalan Gambier/Jalan Power.

The public is adviced to park their cars at Saujana building, P. Merdeka, Reservoir Park, Medan Pelita, or the carparks at Tun Jugah and UTC Kuching.

No drones allowed

Aside from advicing members of the public about road closure, the police have also warned about flying drones during the event.

Press reports say that only drones by local TV station TVS is allowed, while the rest will be not allowed within the parade area.

The police also made it clear that they will be using frequency jammers to block illegal drones.

Niti Daun was last held in Kuching in 2018.
