About SMK Lake
SMK Lake was established in January 1966, initially operating without its own building. It temporarily occupied classrooms at Bau Council Primary School. The first student intake consisted of approximately 100 students across three classes. The school eventually moved to its permanent site in the third quarter of 1967.
Officially opened on April 12, 1968, by Sarawak’s then-Governor, Tun Abang Haji Openg, SMK Lake was a Grade B secondary school. It expanded its offerings over the years, introducing Form 4 classes in 1983 and Form 6 classes in 1991. The school was upgraded to a Grade A school in 1995, solidifying its place as a significant educational institution in the Bau district.
