Marina Bridge: Miri’s “Golden Gate” gets name ahead of Sarawak Day groundbreaking

The new bridge linking Piasau to Miri Marina will be called Marina Bridge.

This was made known by the Sarawak Works Department in their sharing on social media.

The bridge, prior to this was reffered to as the Miri River Mouth bridge as the Piasau bridge by netizens. Personally, the name Marina bridge is fitting and has a nice ring to it as compared to the former two names.

In the same posting, the Sarawak Works Department shared a video which showed a model design of the beautiful cable-stayed bridge once it’s ready both during the day and night.

Hype on the bridge had started early this week as it was made known to the public that Sarawak Day will be used for the ground breaking of what is reffered to as Sarawak’s version of the ‘Golden Gate Bridge’ in Miri.

When ready, the new bridge will connect the people from Lutong, a suburb known for its oil and gas industry, to the under-construction Miri Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant and the Miri Marina.

This will allow people to by-pass both the Miri City Centre as well as Pujut if they are heading either way, and hence reducing traffic into both areas.

In addition to that, the location of the bridge, which overlooks the sea, would also make it a great place to enjoy the beautiful seaside Miri has to offer.
