Hospital Petra Jaya set to start construction
KUCHING: Zecon Bhd has secured a RM495mil contract to build a proposed 300-bed Petra Jaya hospital here.
The company said it received the letter of award yesterday from the Public Works Department to implement the project.
“The duration for the construction of the project is 42 months,” Zecon told Bursa Malaysia in a brief announcement.
To recap, the group received a letter of intent from the Health Ministry more than two years ago to implement the Petra Jaya hospital project on a “design and build” concept.
The new hospital is expected to alleviate congestion at Sarawak General Hospital and also to serve residents in the fast-expanding city north.
Zecon said the project was not expected to have any material impact on its earnings for the financial year ending June 30 this year, but it should contribute positively to its earnings and consolidated net assets in subsequent financial years.
Last year, Zecon’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Zecon Land Sdn Bhd, was awarded a RM155mil contract to build the proposed Mydin Supermall, also in Petra Jaya.
