First Yayasan Sarawak International School intake is 111

Yayasan Sarawak International School intake for its first term was 111.

The number of students for the newly formed school was announced as the school starts its operations at a education facility in Petra Jaya, Kuching.

According to a news report by Borneo Post, the number of students entering the school was confirmed by Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, in which the daily quoted him as saying that the students enrolled last month.

Sagah was quoted as saying 80 of the students are boarders while 31 are day-scholars. He was also noted as saying that 60 percent were from the B40 household group, 30 percent from the middle M40 group and 10 percent from the T20 group.

Yayasan Sarawak International School intake lower than expected

The Minister said the intake is lower than anticipated due to parental approval which were reluctant to release their children to a school far away from home.

The Sarawak government initially targeted 200 students for the first intake to the school which will also see branches being built in major Division in Sarawak.
