Federal government revives plans for admin centre
The federal government is reviving its plan to build a Federal Administration Centre (FAC) in the state.
However, the centre will be built at a new site at Sampadi about 25 kilometres from here instead of the nearby original 2,020-acre site at Rambungan approved by the state government in 1997.
This was disclosed by Chief Secretary to the Government Dato’ Sri Dr Ali Hamsa during a State Development briefing by the State Planning Unit’s director Datu Ismawi Ismuni held at the Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.
He said the FAC project was shelved in 2006 because of the prohibitive cost of sand filling at the site located in Rambungan as well as other issues. Nonetheless, the plan was never abandoned.
