Danu Water Park: All you need to know about the new Serian Water Park

Serian is poised for a significant transformation with the groundbreaking development of Danu Water Park Serian, a project hailed as Borneo’s first of its kind. The project was first made known in 2024, with proposed plans emerging and mentioned as “Tasik Danu Serian redevelopment“.
More than just a water theme park, this ambitious development by Tecktonic Group is a comprehensive integrated lifestyle and tourism hub set to boost the local economy and put Serian on the map as a major destination.
This new water park is expected to cater for the need in Sarawak South, with the proposed Kenyalang Smart City (KSC) Lagoon Water Park catering for those in Miri and Southern Sarawak.
A grand vision: Project overview and location
The Danu Water Park is part of an 18-acre mixed-use development that is replacing the former Tasik Danu recreational lake.

The project’s location is strategically positioned by the Pan Borneo Highway, making it easily accessible for both local and foreign tourists, including visitors from neighboring West Kalimantan.
The developer has described the project as a “shining diamond in the Borneo jungle,” a testament to its scale and ambition.

Construction and timeline
The redevelopment of the site began with the dewatering of Tasik Danu in 11 February 2025.
The project was officially launched in August 2025 and is expected to be completed within two years, with an estimated completion date in 2027.
The water theme park itself is a three-acre facility with a budget of RM40 million. The entire development is a long-term project aimed at transforming the area into a vibrant hub.

Danu Water Park facilities
The Danu Water Park development is much more than a collection of slides and pools.
The project, which is being landscaped by a renowned Thai architect, is designed to be a comprehensive leisure destination. Its proposed facilities include:
- Water Theme Park: The centerpiece of the development, the three-acre water park is designed to international standards and will feature world-class amusement facilities in a garden-style leisure setting.
- Residential and Hospitality: A 12-storey serviced apartment block with 172 units and a 42-room hotel are part of the plan, offering accommodation for both residents and tourists.
- Commercial Hub: The development will feature a two-storey retail mall, commercial shop lots, kiosks, a sports center, and a public piazza.
Aside from the three facilities, the water park would also have unique features which include a three-storey floating pavilion and a scenic public lake.
These features are designed for events and recreational activities.

Looking at artist impressions of the water park reveal that there would be a lazy pool facility, giant water slides, kids pool area, and what looks like a possible wave pool.
Danu Water Park ticket prices
It is still very early to get information of tickets to the water park but it’s worth noting that another water park in the Serian area, Borneo Empurau Farm & Resort, charges RM45 for adults and RM25 for children, with an additional RM15 for water park access.
These prices may give a general idea of the potential cost, but they are not the official rates for Danu Water Park.
