Air Supply Concert in Kuching canceled: Local organizer Twig Events responds

Twig Events, the local (Kuching) organizer for the Air Supply 50th Anniversary Concert in Kuching, has announced the show scheduled for September 24, 2025, at SBC Hall has been officially canceled.

The company in a press release, expressed its deep regret and disappointment, noting that the cancellation was unexpected and came as a shock to them as well as to fans.

According to Twig Events, like fans, they too only knew of the cancellation after Air Supply made an announcement on Facebook.

The local organizer states that no reason for the cancellation was provided to them in advance.

The event company stressed that all preparations, including the stage, venue, and logistics, were fully in place as of the evening of September 23, with about 4,000 expected to attend the Air Supply concert.

Check show that the SBC hall which is to be the venue of the concert, can accomodate seat 4,581 people at one time, showing that there is strong interest for the concert.

In addition, the company also stressed that it had no direct dealings with Air Supply and the duo’s management as they had a contract to communicate as well as deal with Galaxy World Entertainment Sdn Bhd, which is the concert tour agent, in regards to Air Supply’s concert.

Twig Events role was as the local organiser (in Kuching), responsible for venue, logistics, and fan experience. The rest was handled by the concert tour agent.

Twig Events further clarifies that no operational issues were ever raised with them, and they were ready to deliver a successful show with preparations already done up to the evening of 23 September 2025.

Checks on Twig Events’ Facebook show the company was also still promoting the concert, which includes special Grab deals to use Grab to the concert, at 3PM on the eve before the concert.

The company stated that the decision to cancel was “entirely beyond our control”.

It is nonetheless understood that representatives of Galaxy World Entertainment are currently in Kuching and will be meeting with Twig Events to futher clarify the situation.

Refunds and Next Steps

Moving forward, Twig Events’ immediate priority is to ensure all ticket holders receive a full refund.

Refunds are already being processed through the same platforms used for ticket purchases and are expected to be completed within 14 working days.

Instructions for refunds have also been sent to ticket holders via email.

The company has also confirmed that it had lodged a complaint with the Arts, Live Festivals and Events Association (ALIFE) and is seeking the intervention of ALIFE’s chairman, Dato’ Alan Foo.

It had also called for clearer industry procedures to prevent similar situations from happening in the future.

Addressing Speculation

Event organizer, Twig Events also cautioned against “unfounded speculation” that suggest the Air Supply concert in Kuching was canceled due to an unsuitable venue or dissatisfaction from the Muslim community.

The company said such concerns were never raised with them adding that they had received no indication that the venue or religious sensitivities played any part in the decision to cancel the concert.

The concert venue, the SBC hall, known also as the Sarawak Blessed Church (SBC) Sanctuary, is a new four-storey state of the art auditorium with world class concert hall facilities.

Regarding the possibility of a reschedule, Twig Events noted that while Air Supply has mentioned it on Facebook, but since the company has no direct dealings with the band, their immediate focus remains on processing refunds.
