UNIMAS Prima Health Centre is officially open
The UNIMAS Prima Health Centre, part of the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Teaching Hospital, officially opened its doors on January 15, 2025.
This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare development, promising to elevate healthcare standards and provide advanced medical services to the community.
The opening ceremony was graced by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who highlighted the clinic’s role in enhancing healthcare services across Sarawak.
New Sarawak Tribune quoted the Premier as saying that the health centre is a significant milestone in Sarawak’s healthcare development despite only having the first phase operational for now, with the second phase up-coming.
UKAS also quoted the premier as saying that the Prima Health Centre is designed to address the healthcare needs of Sarawak’s aging population as 16% of the population is expected to be aged 60 and above soon.
It therefore integrates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and smart medical devices to provide efficient and personalized care.
The second phase of the project will see the completion of the UNIMAS Teaching Hospital.
UNIMAS Prima Health Centre had been operational since September 2024, with the second phase of the project expected to be completed by the end of this year.
