New school block for SJKC Chung Hua Batu 11 Matang ready in March 2026

Construction is well underway for the new school block at SJKC Chung Hua Batu 11 Matang, marking a significant milestone for the rapidly growing community.

According to TVS, this much-anticipated addition aims to alleviate existing overcrowding and provide a more conducive learning environment for the school’s increasing student population, which currently stands at 85 students but is targeted to increase to 120 upon completion.

Suara Sarawak in its report stated that the building is currently 70 per cent completed, with completion expected in March 2026.

It also quoted Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, as saying that the Sarawak government had provided RM4 million out of the total RM7 million needed for the project.

Once completed, the multi-story building of the school will not only have new classrooms, but also a mini hall.

According to Sin Chew, the school had applied for relocation in 1999, and received good news it was approved in 2022.

SJKC Chung Hua Batu 11 Matang is a Chinese national-type primary school situated in Matang, Kuching, Sarawak.

As a “micro school” defined by the education department, it serves a smaller student population, with approximately 70 students and 12 teachers as of 2021-2022.

It’s noteworthy for its inclusive student body, reflecting the broader trend in Sarawak where a significant number of Chinese primary school students are Bumiputera. This highlights the school’s role in providing education to a diverse community in the Matang area.
