New Daro Health Clinic: Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming Healthcare Facility

The constuction of the new Daro Healthcare Clinic (Klink Kesihatan Daro) has started ending the decade-long wait for a comprehensive healthcare facility.
Following a tragic fire that destroyed the original building on October 7, 2015, medical professionals and patients have had to make do with a temporary setup at the Daro Hospital Rest House.
The new Daro Healthcare Clinic is located at Kampung Tengah.
Cost
The government approved an additional RM15 million on top of an initial RM35 million allocation for the new Daro Healthcare Clinic.
This brings the total project valuation to RM50 million.
The official Phase II construction contract, which was awarded to Dasanrama Sdn. Bhd., officially stands at RM46.8 million.
Specifications and Facilities
The upcoming Daro Healthcare Clinic is designated as a Type 4 health clinic, which represents a massive upgrade over the temporary site currently in use.
Supervised by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Mukah Division as the implementing agency, the new building is designed to provide modern, comprehensive, and comfortable treatment spaces.
The upgraded specifications will allow the facility to handle a much higher patient capacity while offering a wider array of daily medical services.
Additionally, the strategic location of the new site—combined with the newly completed Batang Lassa Bridge—will make it significantly easier for residents of surrounding areas like Pulau Bruit and Matu to access quality healthcare.
Facilities at the new clinic include the following.
- Main Clinic Block: One primary building designated as a Type 4 ID Health Clinic, which will house the main treatment wards, consultation rooms, and administrative offices.
- Ambulance Garage: A standard 5-bay garage to accommodate a larger fleet of emergency vehicles, ensuring rapid response times for critical patients.
- Guardhouse: A dedicated block for security personnel to monitor the compound and ensure safety.
- Central Storage: One standard storage block to safely house medical supplies and equipment.
- Class G Apartment Quarters: Three distinct blocks featuring a total of 8 apartment-style units for clinic staff.
- Class D Semi-Detached Quarters: One block of 2-storey, semi-detached homes (comprising 2 units) designed for senior medical officers and administrators.
- Power Supply (Genset & MSB): One dedicated block for the Generator Set and Main Switch Board to guarantee backup power during outages.
- Water Management: Two separate pump houses (One Standard, One Type A) to ensure consistent water pressure and supply across the compound.
- Waste Management: Two standard refuse chambers (garbage houses)—one dedicated to the staff quarters and one specifically for the clinic to safely handle medical and general waste.
- Core Construction Works: The project scope also officially includes extensive piling works to ensure structural integrity, complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) installations for modern medical equipment, and comprehensive external works including roads and landscaping.
