AirBorneo has officially taken over the MASWings from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) with both companies signing the transfer on December 31, 2025.
The move shifts all legal and operational responsibility of MASwings to AirBorneo, marking full operations of the new airline.
As of January 2, 2026, Sarawak’s had officially taken flight with the grand launch of AirBorneo’s livery and new uniform with the Sarawak-owned carrier unveiling a visual identity that blends modern aviation standards with the deep cultural soul of the region.
The first flight featuring the new livery and uniform was taken from Kuching to Tanjung Manis at 8.25am using the ATR72-500 on January 2nd, 2026.
The “Wings of Unity” Livery
The new aircraft livery is anchored by the “Wings of Unity” logo, a design inspired by the fluid movement of Sarawak’s great rivers and the freedom of the wind.
The color palette pays homage to the Ibu Pertiwi (the Sarawak flag), featuring bold red, yellow, and black accents against a clean, white fuselage.
This striking combination is more than a design choice; it is a statement of sovereignty and pride, ensuring that every AirBorneo flight is instantly recognizable as a representative of the “Land of the Hornbills.”

Cultural Identity in Uniform
Complementing the fleet’s new look is the AirBorneo cabin crew uniform, which serves as a “storyteller of the skies.”
The AirBorneo cabin cre uniform, designed by Ariff Shukor Atelier, combines contemporary professional silhouettes with traditional motifs, reflecting the rich heritage of Sarawak’s diverse ethnic groups. The uniform comes in a “vibrant red” base with “yellow scarves” to reflect the Sarawak flag, as well as the integration of keringkam (traditional embroidery) and kenyalang (hornbill) motifs.

By integrating indigenous patterns and local craftsmanship into the fabric, the airline aims to provide travelers with an immediate connection to the region’s identity from the moment they board.
Up-coming AirBorneo routes
AirBorneo aims to fly beyond Borneo in the near future.
While initial operations utilize turboprop aircraft like the ATR-72 for rural connectivity, the airline is set to introduce jet services by July 2026, expanding its reach to international destinations like Singapore and Jeju Island.
