If you have not noticed, the iconic cat statues at the Kuching Cat Tower, (real name ‘Chan Chin Ann Cat Tower’) in Kuching now has new eye colours.
According to Bornep Post, the cats new eye colours were chosen by the public through a Facebook vote organized by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).
This community-driven initiative saw residents select four preferred eye colors from eight options, giving the statues a more engaging and lively appearance.
The repainting of these beloved landmarks follows a similar effort earlier in the year where the large white cat statue at Padungan Roundabout was adorned with blue eyes by local artist Gerald Goh, a change that garnered positive feedback from the public.
The cats eye touch up was also done by Gerald.
Borneo Post also reported that the repainting was initially scheduled before Chinese New Year, but it had to be posponed due to unfavorable weather conditions, and was only completed last April 2025.
