Inspirasi Xi’an: Why Hilton Kuching’s 2026 Ramadan Buffet is a Must-Visit (Plus 15% Promo Code!)

Hilton Kuching has announced its 2026 Ramadan festive buffet, titled “Inspirasi Xi’an, Diraikan Bersama,” held at the River View Café. Running from February 20 to March 19, 2026, this gastronomic event merges the heritage of Xi’an, China, with Sarawak’s local flavours.

The collaboration features Hilton Kuching’s Executive Chef Alex Wong alongside guest Chefs Wang Fujian and Jiang Jin from the Hilton Xi’an High-Tech Zone to create an authentic Silk Road dining experience.

I had a chance to enjoy the buffet on 12 February 2026, and here are my personal thoughts on the experience.

Fresh Osyters.

Highlights of the Hilton Kuching River View Café Ramadan Buffet 2026

The buffet’s primary highlight is the exploration of Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter, featuring traditional hand-pulled biang biang noodles, rou jia mo, and Shaanxi Chilli Soy Braised Beef.

These legendary international dishes are complemented by premium local “Seafood on Ice,” which includes Santubong tiger prawns, Japanese scallops, and New Zealand green mussels.

Meat lovers can visit the specialized Carving and BBQ stations, featuring Chef Alex’s signature Salted Australian Stanbroke M5 Wagyu Brisket.

The outdoor River View Café Terrace offers a live BBQ experience with Sematan ornate spiny lobsters, Australian Black Angus Tomahawk, and air-flown Norwegian salmon.

Raub Pahang Musang King Durians

To add a local seasonal touch, guests can also indulge in fresh Raub Musang King Durians while overlooking the Sarawak River.

To be honest, I can’t think of a better “atas-atas” way to enjoy such delicious durian!

The culinary journey concludes with an extensive dessert spread featuring a live Kunafah station, top-range ice cream, and handcrafted French pastries.

Personal Thoughts

I tried as many dishes as I could, but I must admit, I couldn’t taste them all in one night! There were just so many choices.

Australian Black Angus Tomahawk

I focused on the items highlighted by Hilton, as well as my personal favorites.

  • Australian Black Angus Tomahawk: Top of my list! It was incredibly good. The meat was succulent and tender, with an intense, meaty flavour that paired perfectly with the black pepper sauce.
  • Sematan Ornate Spiny Lobsters: Grilled right next to the Tomahawk, these were sweet, delicate, and firm. I’m not usually a huge fan of lobsters, but this was “atas-atas” quality food, so I had to go for it—and it was well worth it.
  • Salted Australian Stanbroke M5 Wagyu Brisket: Highly recommended for its intense, buttery, and rich flavour.
  • Biang biang Noodles: A must-try as they are quite different from the typical noodles we Sarawakians usually have. The spiciness is on point, and for those who like it even hotter, you can add extra condiments to flare things up.
  • Kari Betis Kambing: For those seeking local flavours, this is a winner. The lamb was tender, but the star was the gravy/soup—it was perfectly balanced with a spicy “kick” that wasn’t too overpowering. It goes brilliantly with white rice.
  • Ayam Penyet Sambal Tomato: While the chicken itself is standard, the sambal is worth boasting about. The heat doesn’t hit you immediately, but the “kick” grows as you eat, making the whole dish better than most places I’ve visited.
  • Fresh Oysters: A personal highlight since they aren’t always easy to find at buffets. Great with hint of lemon.

For dessert, it was hard to choose from the “Silk Road section.” The Kunafah requires a bit of a wait since it is made to order, but if you’re impatient, there are plenty of other options like ice cream, snow ice, and a huge variety of pastries.

About River View Café

The River View Café is a cosy restaurant at the lowest floor level of Hilton Kuching. Being the main breakfast buffet area, this cafe offers a lof of ‘live’ food stations which allow you to get your food fresh and hot from the chefs on duty.

Beyond that, the cafe overlooks the Kuching Waterfront and is spacious enoough to enjoy and move around without bumping into other guest. I think its the best place to enjoy a meal especially if you are going for the Ramadan buffets as you can also enjoy the beautiful sunset of Kuching city.
