Events for Inauguration of the Sarawak Flagpole and New Year Countdown announced
Amy Search and Zainal Abidin among performers at massive event
The Sarawak Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak today announced events which would be happening during the coming Sarawak New Year Countdown 2024 and the Inauguration of the Sarawak Flagpole.
The event is themed ‘Lets Celebrate Together’.
Both events, happening on 31 December 2024, would be graced by Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.
The inauguration of the tallest flagpole in South East Asia, the Sarawak flagpole by Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, would be the main highlight.
According to a statement on social media by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, the event will start in the morning of 31st December, with activities such as “Senamrobik-Senam Kenyalang”, “Fiesta Karaoke Rakyat”, arts exhibitions, and performances by Gendang Melayu Sarawak from Kampung Telaga Air, Kelas Bimbingan Seni Majlis Seni Sarawak (MSS), and Yayasan Perpaduan/POTRES.
The Simfoni Orkestra Negeri Sarawak (SONS) Junior would also be performing at the Kuching Waterfront from 8AM to 6PM before local talents such as Firdaus Matrang, Raquel Then, Richmond Allan Morshidi, Bob Yunus and Karen Libau take the stage.
Also performing at the event would be the Festival Kesenian Sarawak 2023 finalist, Panggau Libau 2 from Sri Aman.
Malaysia’s well known singers such as Datuk Amy Search, Dato’ Zainal Abidin, Hael Husaini, Floor 88 dan De Fam would also be performing during the Countdown 2024 event at the Kuching Waterfront that same day.
That said, if you are interested to witness the Inauguration of the Sarawak Flagpole and New Year Countdown for 2024, plan early to head to the Kuching Waterfront on 31 December 2023.
