DBKK unveils new Tourist Jetty with 2,000 daily capacity

Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) recently unveiled its new DBKK Tourist Jetty, a modern facility designed to enhance island tourism and improve the visitor experience.

The jetty is managed directly by DBKK Holdings and it aims to serve as a more organized, comfortable, and safe gateway to popular islands like Manukan, Sapi, Mamutik, and Gaya.

The jetty’s primary importance lies in its ability to centralize and regulate boat services, preventing over-pricing and ensuring fair fees for both local and foreign tourists.

Mayor Datuk Seri Dr. Sabin Samitah emphasized that by managing the jetty in-house, DBKK can maintain safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.

This move also ensures that no single private company can monopolize services, promoting fairness for all boat operators.

With a daily capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 passengers, the jetty is equipped to handle high traffic and will provide an alternative to the busy Jesselton Point.

It features designated loading and unloading areas for passengers and accommodates nine tour companies.

This new facility is considered a significant step toward solidifying Kota Kinabalu’s reputation as a top-tier tourism destination by providing a high-quality, government-regulated infrastructure.
