AirBorneo: Online Check-In Now Live for ATR Flights in Sarawak and Sabah

Sarawak’s state-owned airline, AirBorneo, has officially launched its online check-in service for all ATR flight routes across East Malaysia.

This digital update is a major win for local travelers, allowing them to skip long airport queues and manage their journeys more efficiently. As AirBorneo grows, the airline is clearly prioritizing modern convenience for its passengers.

The new feature is currently available for flights operated by the ATR 72-500 aircraft fleet. Passengers can now check in via the official website, choose their preferred seats, and receive an electronic boarding pass instantly.

This move marks a key milestone in the airline’s digital transformation since taking over Rural Air Services (RAS) from MASwings earlier this year.

The online check-in window opens 48 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before take-off.

For those traveling with checked luggage, the process is equally simple: just drop your bags at the dedicated baggage counter after checking in online.

Limitations of AirBorneo Online Check-in Service

However, passengers flying on Twin Otter (DHC-6-400) aircraft for rural routes must still check in at the airport counters.

This ensures that weight balance and safety protocols for smaller airstrips are strictly followed.

AirBorneo CEO Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin emphasized that while the airline is moving toward a digital future, they will maintain counter services to ensure no community is left behind.

In case you didn’t know, AirBorneo officially took to the skies as a new Malaysian airline brand last January 2026.
